Frequently Asked Questions

flying oscarWhy should I give my dog and horse treats?
We recommend that you give your dogs and horses treats because healthy treats help reinforce the special bond between you and your animals. Treats are also a good way to reinforce positive behavior and maintain health joints. Healthy treats such as BeanGreens help control weight and protect your animal’s health by lowering the risk of diseases such as diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, cancer, and ulcers. And that’s a good thing!

How often can I give BeanGreens treats to my dog and horse?
Treats are better for your dog than most table scraps and are fine to be given at any time though giving them as positive reinforcement is best. Healthy treats such as BeanGreens can make up as much as 10% of your dog’s diet. Horses can safely eat up to twenty treats per day on their grain or can be fed by hand. BeanGreens are low-fat, sugar and salt-free, so they can help reduce obesity. Giving treats to your dog rather than regular feeding of table scraps can also help you avoid table scrap-related problems: such as begging, weight gain, digestive problems, and diabetes. BeanGreens Max Joint treats are a fabulous way to protect joints and overall health naturally.

How do BeanGreens JointMAX with Hyaluronic Acid help my animal’s health?foal
HA cushions and lubricates the joints acting like a shock absorber. It occurs naturally in joints, skin, the heart valves, and the eyes and decreases with age. HA is a glycosaminoglycan which aids in the body’s water maintenance, providing essential moisture for all the body processes, and for molecular transport. Hyaluronic acid has anti-inflammatory properties, whose function is to cushion and lubricate. HA occurs naturally throughout the human body and is a key component of cartilage concentrated in the synovial joint fluids (where it acts as a lubricant, shock absorber, metabolic medium and filter), the heart valves, in subcutaneous (skin) tissue where it functions is as a cementing agent, and the eyes (the ocular vitreous body). In its role as cartilage component, HA is used to help cushion and lubricate joints.

HA binds water and to lubricate movable parts of the body, such as joints and muscles. Its consistency and tissue-friendliness makes it an excellent moisturizer, which is why it has earned a place in skin-care products and cosmetics. Hyaluronic acid is one of the most hydrophilic (water loving) molecules in nature and as such it is aptly described as "nature’s moisturizer." Aside from being the normal lubricant in human joints, Hyaluronic acid is a special mucopolysacharide that affects the way the body responds to injury. Poor lubrication due to low hyaluronic acid levels is the leading cause of painful joints. When present in a joint, even a joint with little or no cartilage, it can provide a buffer effect.

Why does your animal need a hyaluronic acid supplement?knee
Hyaluronic acid is produced naturally in the body as a component of synovial fluid that lubricates the cartilage between the joints. As your animal gets older, the body produces less and less hyaluronic acid so consequently it becomes more and more difficult to replenish it. When your animal gets arthritis, the cartilage, together with the other structures of the joint, begin to weaken and break down. As a result, joints become stiff and movement becomes painful. This is where Hyaluronic Acid supplements can come in handy because they pick up where our bodies fail us.

Hyaluronic acid acts to improve joint movement and cushioning. If we compare the joints of the body, it can be likened to the cylinders of an automobile engine. The joint fluid in the body is similar to the oil in a car engine. At regular intervals we change the oil in our car engines because the heat and friction breakdown the oils lubricating ability. The oil becomes thinner and less effective in protecting the metal surfaces from excessive wear. Hyaluronic acid works the same way in our joints. As we age the lubricating ability of the joint fluid breaks down and decreases. At a certain point it becomes so thin it will no longer be able to cushion the joint cartilage. This leads to increased friction and wear on the cartilage surfaces of the joints, resulting in joint pain. Taking hyaluronic acid helps restore the normal lubrication of joint fluid and halts damage to the joints.

If your animals are not currently experiencing joint problems then hyaluronic acid may be used to provide benefits in the long run. Just as we change the oil in our car to help prevent problems, taking hyaluronic acid may help or prevent joint damage due to aging or daily wear and tear by maintaining the ability of the joint fluid to lubricate the joints. Also, hyaluronic acid production slows down considerably with age, making it responsible in part for the wrinkling of the skin, joint pain, arterial degeneration, etc. To compensate for this, it makes good sense to take supplemental hyaluronic acid. It has also been used in eye surgery as a replacement fluid in the eye. Applied topically to wounds and severe burns, HA can promote rapid healing and reduce scarring.

Why are BeanGreens Joint Max the BEST source of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) on the market?
Unlike other treat makers, we at BeanGreens spray on our HA AFTER baking for maximum potency! While many other treats contain HA, if it’s baked in, it’s NOT effective and costs you a LOT for NOTHING.

And unlike other brands who harvest their HA from rooster combs (which is certainly not good for the rooster!), ours is vegetarian, not from an animal source. NO ANIMALS are harmed to harvest our HA which is made by organisms. Our HA is the most potent and effective HA available!

Why Are BeanGreens JointMAX treats a better choice than a powdered feed additives?
Expensive powdered supplements can easily be lost and your hard-earned dollars may fly away in the wind. Horses and dogs tend to blow and snort while eating which may cause a powdered joint supplement to literally be “gone with the wind!” When you feed delicious BeanGreens JointMAX treats, your horse and dog will consume every bite with enjoyment.

Do BeanGreens promote dental health?
Crunchy treats, like BeanGreens DO promote dental health. They are extremely popular due to their portability, crunch, and the fact that they help keep teeth clean by scraping off debris. BeanGreens contain ginger which provides dental benefits and breath-freshness, while reducing harmful bacteria in your pet’s mouth and digestive tract. BeanGreens treats reduce plaque buildup and tartar formation.

Do BeanGreens ingredients come from the USA, or from other countries?

How do BeanGreens help protect my animal’s health?heart
BeanGreens contain several top whole-food ingredients and spices that have been shown in medical research to help protect your pet’s health. Cinnamon, for example, is a powerful inducer of insulin sensitivity making it an important part of the diet for both Type II diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Recent human clinical trials have shown that the daily addition of as little ¼ teaspoon of this spice to the diet leads to a reduction of blood sugar levels of between 18 percent and 29 percent in Type II diabetics. This spice has the additional benefit of lowering blood lipids or fats which is an important means of controlling diabetes. Diabetes causes a higher-than-average risk of developing high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke and it is imperative to rigorously control the blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride levels in these animals. BeanGreens contain green beans that are rich in a substance called vanadium. Vanadium is believed to be a very important substance in regulating blood sugar levels.

How are antioxidants good for my animal’s health?radicals
Oxygen in the body can be destructive just like exposing metal to air which causes rust. Oxygen releases “free radicals” which act like criminals in the body. They are like loose bullets ricocheting through the body causing destruction.

Free radicals rob the body by causing deterioration, disease, and aging much like rust eats through metal. Antioxidants clean up the “rusty” areas, slapping the cuffs on free radicals then tossing them in jail, halting their destruction. Antioxidants are like “body police” keeping the streets of the body “clean and safe.” BeanGreens ingredients include cinnamon and cloves which contain some of the most potent antioxidants of all plants, making BeanGreens an important food in the control of free radical damage and thereby protecting against a wide range of chronic diseases.

In an analysis of over 3,000 different foods published in the January 2010 edition of the Nutrition Journal, cinnamon and cloves were found to have one of the highest antioxidant content of all the foods studied. That’s why BeanGreens provide a powerful security force for your pets’ health.

Do BeanGreens Contain antioxidants other than cinnamon?
Yes, BeanGreens are packed with antioxidants that patrol your pet’s body for free radicals, round them up and throw them in jail! Cloves, flaxseed and ginger contain some of the highest levels of antioxidants found in any food including fresh fruits and vegetables.

My horse is becoming “mouthy” when I feed treats by hand. What should I do? Some horses and dogs will become so excited about treats that they can be obnoxious. We recommend that you feed BeanGreens on your horse’s grain, or in your dog’s regular dinner bowl if they exhibit unwanted behavior associated with hand feeding treats. That way you can still protect your animal’s health by treating with BeanGreens without encouraging unwanted behaviors.
